This is the day when Guatemalan’s celebrate kids all over the country.

It usually is celebrated at schools with a snack and piñatas. Families also try to make the day something special for their little ones.

The 15th of September is the day when all of Central America celebrates getting its independence from Spain. At first as a federation that got dissolved with time to create the countries that we know now.

Celebrations usually include parades and concerts all over the country.

Guatemalan Indigenous People’s Day

This is a day for indigenous communities and the local governements to sit down and have deep conversations about how to get them to be included and have their ancient traditions to be respected in the middle of an ever evolving world.

Antigua’s 501 Anniversary

This is a great time to visit Antigua Guatemala. all troughout the month there will be countless cultural and popular events, from a fair to orchestra concerts.

It might now be apparent at first when you google Guatemala, but the country is incredibly diverse, there are around 25 different types of languages and ethnicities. So, as you can imagine, it is an important day in the country.

This is a day to demonstrate support for environmental protection. It includes a wide range of events coordinated globally by EARTHDAY.ORG including 1 billion people in more than 193 countries.

National Day Against Violence Against Kids

This is a special day where we take the time to remember and reflect about how much violence against kids affects their futures.

Women’s Day

Th day serves as a reminder for the 1911 tragedy. But in modern days it is also an opportunity to discuss and take action regarding issues such as gender equality, reproductive rights, and violence and abuse against women.

Day of the Cultural Patrimony of the Nation

This, according to Congress is the day when the Archaeological site of Tikal in Peten was discovered back in 1,848.

National Day of Dignity for Victims From the Civil War

Civil War in Guatemala just ended on the 29th of December of 1996. Since then, our One Quetzal coin Says “Peace“.

During that time thousands of people, mostly indigenous were killed, disappeared, thrown out of their lands, and treated as slaves. This is a day for Guatemalans to remember what should never happen again and why, as well as loved ones who died during that time.
