This, according to Congress is the day when the Archaeological site of Tikal in Peten was discovered back in 1,848.

National Day of Dignity for Victims From the Civil War

Civil War in Guatemala just ended on the 29th of December of 1996. Since then, our One Quetzal coin Says “Peace“.

During that time thousands of people, mostly indigenous were killed, disappeared, thrown out of their lands, and treated as slaves. This is a day for Guatemalans to remember what should never happen again and why, as well as loved ones who died during that time.

All Saints Day

All Saints day in Guatemala is a time to remember the loved ones who have passed already. During this day we eat a unique dish called fiambre, visit cemeteries and fly kites that are three stories hight or more. Kites are supposed to be tools to send messages to our loved ones in heaven.
